Until a new coach is named, don’t plan on any new commits. Success at this time can be measured with keeping our current recruits on board and keeping the other targets from going elsewhere. That is about as good as you can do until a new coach is hired…recruits don’t want to commit to a program they may not want to be a part of in a month.

Well, it has been a busy weekend for Lew Perkins. I haven't personally been able to confirm it, but it is being reported through a couple "in-the-know" circles that Lew took a private jet to New York this weekend to meet with a couple agents and candidates.

Okay, when it comes to official target lists to replace Mark Mangino, there simply isn't one. Lew Perkins is keeping EVERYTHING close to the vest. Rumor has it that Lew is headed to New York this weekend to attend an awards ceremony that will have a ton of potential coaches at it. What a dumb way to lose a game. The real problem with Mangino-gate is that it confuses the issue of the on-the-field performance. It's pretty much always been a given that every KU football coach is literally one home loss to Missouri away from losing his job. The Arrowhead deal has maybe given both Mark Mangino and Gary Pinkel a sense of security in that respect. Still, let me just try to evaluate the football performance minus the political circus.

This is the strangest game day I can remember. When we had Mark Williams running the team and when we had Bill Whittemore running the team, I used to have a saying:

Honestly, I felt like anyone who is a supporter of KU football had paid their dues with the mind-blowing Christmas Day grenade that Glen Mason heaved at the program back in 1995. Sorry about the lack of Recruiting Corner updates lately. I got word that the Army is going to make me do a pond jump here in the not-so-distant future, so I have been preparing for it. The Battle For Kansas | Mark Mangino described it as one of the biggest sporting events in Kansas. I can't think of anything bigger. Don't talk to me about NASCAR.
